About Embodied Leadership Lab
Embodied Leadership Lab’s Founder, Betsy Reed, has spent over twenty years working globally with leaders who carry real weight - in government, business, civil society and institutions that shape how the world moves.
What she noticed (and what most leadership development still misses) is this: the quality of a leader’s internal state determines the quality of everything they do.
Their decisions. Their relationships. What gets tolerated. What gets built (or not). And, ultimately, their impact on culture and systems - small and big.
A leader is not separate from their system. They are the system. Whatever is going on in their nervous system repeats at scale. Because patterns repeat. It’s a law of nature.
Betsy founded Embodied Leadership Lab on that premise.
Her work draws on her training and experience in somatics, systems thinking and how the nervous system operates under pressure. She works at the root, not the surface - not behaviour change for its own sake, but creating the shift that makes a behaviour inevitable - and one that can be sustained.
She works with senior leaders and executive teams who have done conventional development work and know something is still missing. What is missing, always, is the work to understand the body’s intelligence and retrain patterns it has been running, unexamined, for years
Betsy works internationally with individuals and teams across sectors. She is precise, direct, playful… and deeply attuned. She works at a pace and volume that allows her to remain consciously embodied herself. Everything in her approach has been developed through personal, embodied experience as a leader herself.
As a result, she works with relatively few people at a time, which is how she ensures she works with the right ones.
