Embodied Leadership Lab
Leadership is a practice.
Your patterns are your impact.
Shift them and everything follows.
The Premise
Leadership is a practice.
And a leader’s system is a living system.
Their internal state shapes how decisions are made, relationships function and teams operate.
Patterns repeat.
This is not a metaphor. It is how systems behave.
A leader can only replicate whatever patterns their own nervous system is running.
Those can be changed through awareness and practice.
Change the patterns and everything else changes. Relationships, cultures, systems, impact.
“Everyone has a strategy until
they get punched in the face.”
~ Mike Tyson
Embodied Intelligence dictates how you lead -
consciously or unconsciously.
And it’s run by your nervous system.
When you change how you show up in the moments that repeat, decisions change, conversations change.
Over time, a system reorganises. Not because you imposed change. Because you consciously embodied it.
Grounded in neuroscience, biology, physics - not theory, not mindfulness, not another framework.
You feel it before you can explain it. The body gets there first.
What Is Embodied Leadership Lab?
Leadership is a practice.
Most leaders spend their lives acquiring knowledge, frameworks and techniques.
Very few have anywhere to practice the inner capacities that determine how they actually lead
in the moment, under pressure.
Embodied Leadership Lab is a field of practice
for leadership.
Drawing on more than 20 years of work with leaders across business, public institutions, academia and sustainability, I create the conditions for people to practice being the kind of leader they want to become.
This isn’t a course to complete, a model to learn or a framework to follow.
Embodied Leadership Lab is a place to develop the capacities that shape every conversation, every decision and every relationship.
Capacities like presence, discernment, courage, emotional regulation and relational intelligence.
Whether you join as a Member, work with me 1:1, bring me into your leadership team or organisation, the purpose is the same.
The container changes. The practice doesn’t.

I attended one of Betsy’s Embodied Leadership Lab sessions in April 2026.
I expected a long list of actions and frameworks.
Instead, she delivered something far more valuable: clarity.
Her approach cut through the noise and brought leadership back to what truly matters.
She highlighted the importance of being a regulated leader in order to build regulated, resilient systems,
and did so with a rare combination of depth and lightness.
The session struck an excellent balance between solid evidence and practical exercises that could be applied immediately.

About the Founder
I'm Betsy Reed. For more than twenty years I've worked with leaders whose work shapes organisations, institutions and systems.
I've coached executives, designed leadership programmes, mentored executives studying with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, been a professor of leadership, spoken on stages around the world and worked alongside people tackling some of society's biggest challenges.
Over time I noticed something. The work that mattered most wasn't happening in the coaching conversation. It was happening afterwards, in the moments that repeated.
Leadership development was getting better at helping people think differently. It still wasn't giving them somewhere to practise leading differently. And without practice, insight rarely becomes behaviour. So nothing really changes.
That's the gap Embodied Leadership Lab exists to fill.
My work brings together systems thinking, neuroscience, somatics and two decades of experience working with leaders under real pressure. I work at the level where patterns are formed, because that's where lasting change becomes possible.
I work with a relatively small number of people each year - individual leaders, leadership teams and organisations - so I can go deep rather than wide.
Leadership isn't about knowing more. It's about repeatedly embodying what matters when it counts. And that only comes with practice.
